Prof. Dr. Edson Amaro Jr is the head of Global Advanced
Technologies for Equity and Full Professor in Health Data Analytics
at Albert Einstein Hospital. He is a medical doctor with a a PhD in
neuroimaging (fMRI), was a Wellcome Trust Fellow at the Institute
of Psychiatry, King‘s College London from 2000 to 2002 and head
of the Brain Institute of Albert Einstein Hospital from 2008 to 2012.
He pioneered fMRI methods in Brazil while at University of São
Paulo Medicine School in which he currently holds a part-time
Associate Professor position. He was in charge or creating the Big
Data and Advanced Analytics areas of Albert Einstein Hospital in 2015 and was the head of the
area until 2023 before accepting the current role as head of the e.Gate initiative. He continues
to work in neuroradiology and has co-authored more than 250 peer-reviewed scientific papers.
